Popular highlights in Battambang:

Bamboo Train

Ride the famous traditional bamboo train through the surrounding rice fields or the newer version that winds its way along the bottom of Phnom Banan.

Phnom Banan

An older hilltop ancient temple reached by a long staircase. Look over the 360 degree view below you as the farmland, rivers, and distant hills stretch out as far as the eye can see.

Phnom Sampeau

This mountain not far from Battambang has a dark history dating to the time of the Khmer Rouge. At the top of the hill you will find shrines, caves, and stories from the country’s past. At sunset from the base of the mountain you can watch thousands of bats stream out in long waves as they begin their nightly search for food.

Ek Phnom Temple

A partly collapsed ancient temple that sits beside a modern pagoda and a large sitting Buddha statue. You can walk through shaded grounds and see carvings that tell stories from many centuries ago.

Battambang Circus by Phare Ponleu Selpak

This is where the famous Phare Circus in Siem Reap trains their acrobats and educates hundreds of local children. Performers  mix acrobatics, theatre, and music in shows offered many nights during the week. The show reflects real experiences from the community and supports young artists.

Wat Kor Village

Wat Kor is a quiet village with old wooden homes built in a traditional style. You can meet families, hear personal stories, and learn how these houses have been passed down for generations.
